Sylvester Cheek was born 3 June 1845 in Forsyth County, GA and died 22 June 1938 in the Cowan Barrens Community near Yellville, AR. Sylvester married Martha D. Dunlap 21 December 1865 in GA. Martha was born in 1847 in ? and died during 1927 in the Cowan Barrens Community near Yellville, AR. Sylvester and Martha had the following children:

Nathan Matthew (Mel) Cheek, born 6 June 1867 and died 26 February 1948. He married Susan E. Thompson on 4 April 1886. Susan died 31 December 1930. Nathan and Susan had the following children: Bessie Cheek, born 1887 and died 1969. Bessie married Jesse Matlock in 1905. Jesse Matlock was born on 1 November 1873 and died 24 March 1928.

Mary Cheek, born 1887. She married W.D. Harris on 3 August 1893. Mary and W.D. had the following children: Gasaway Cletus Harris, D

Charlie Sylvester Cheek was born 25 April 1875 in the Cowan Barrens Community near Yellville, AR. He died 9 August 1947 in the same community. He married Auphamy "Amy" Vinzant Callahan 3 October 1897. Amy was born 4 March 1874 in Rutherford, TN and died 23 June 1977 in Newport, AR. Sylvester and Amy are buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Cowen Barrens.
